Sustainable farming is the heart of how we manage our farm. Permaculture is one of the tools we use to achieve biologically balanced soil for tastier, healthier produce from the biggest farm to the smallest garden. Let us teach you all about it!
Volunteering at Footehills Farms is fun and educational (and the free produce isn’t bad either). Community members plant starts, mulch, water, achieve soil balance, learn about medicinal herbs, and more!
Thom and Torie believe deeply in giving back. Volunteering at Footehills Farms is a robust educational experience that will make you a better horticulturalist.
Our Values
Footehills Farm welcomes volunteers who want to help with the operation of the farm while learning about permaculture, organic growing, carpentry, irrigation, plumbing, animal husbandry and other subjects. Volunteers get hands-on experience in these areas and have the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the farm and improve the environment.
Footehills Farm operates sustainably under the ethics of permaculture. Care of the Earth, care of people, and sharing the surplus inform permaculture design principles that minimize labor and waste while maximizing growth and productivity.
WWOOF
World Wide Opportunities On Organic Farms (WWOOF) is an international organization connecting organic farms with individuals and groups wanting to experience farm work while learning about organic, sustainable farming. WWOOFers receive room and board in exchange for their work and can stay for 1 to several weeks and many find it a rewarding way to experience different countries and cultures.
Footehills Farm is proud to be a registered host farm with WWOOF and accepts WWOOFers from March through October. Winter stays can be available.
You can find us on WWOOF USA.
